CALL FOR ARTISTS

The Greater Reston Arts Center (GRACE) invites artists to submit images of available works for an exhibition entitled BEAD, running from January 15 to February 28, 2015. BEAD will focus upon the use of beads in contemporary mixed-media art. Long utilized to adorn clothing and create jewelry and lavish accessories, beads are increasingly utilized in two- and three-dimensional mixed media works that defy easy categorization. A corollary to the STITCH exhibit mounted at GRACE in January 2014, BEAD will investigate the surprising breadth of ways in which contemporary artists are incorporating beads into their work. GRACE is specifically seeking beaded works that address concerns beyond simple adornment or decoration.

For more information, contact GRACE at info@restonarts.org and place “BEAD” in the subject line.

This call will close on November 2, 2014.

To be considered, please submit five high-resolution images of your work along with your resume and an artist statement on the Juried Art Services site. Applicants from all regions will be considered, but participating artists must be willing to ship or deliver selected works to and from the GRACE gallery at their own expense.

IF selected, artists must agree to ship or otherwise deliver the selected work(s) to the Greater Reston Arts Center gallery during the week of January 5 – 9, 2015. Artists must also agree to retrieve or arrange return shipping for the work(s) during the week of March 2 -6, 2015.

All work must be original and handcrafted, and in compliance with the media definitions in this prospectus. Artists warrant that the artworks submitted for jurying, and the artworks to be shown, were produced by them, or in collaboration with a named co-artist.

Artists must disclose their creative process at the time of application.

Artists authorize use of the images submitted with their application, or duplicates thereof, for publicity, documentation, or archival purposes. This includes, but is not limited to, printed and electronic marketing materials.

Works will be available for sale in the gallery, at a price determined by the artist. GRACE takes a 30% commission on gallery sales.

The Greater Reston Arts Center reserves the right to make final interpretation of all terms and conditions.
