Prospectus

Orsoni Smalti Veneziani has been manufacturing Venetian smalti and gold mosaic since 1888. We have created the Orsoni Prize to honor the creation of contemporary mosaic fine art. Maestro Lucio Orsoni, great grandson of Orsoni founder and current Honorary President of Angelo Orsoni and Pino Bisazza, the founder and President of Trend Group and premier art collector, will judge the competition.


Maestro Orsoni and Dottore Bisazza will award the Grand Prize to the individual who best exemplifies the use of Orsoni product in a mosaic representing excellent technique and unique artistic vision. Four additional artists will also be recognized for their work with one Honorable Mention and three Finalists.


Artists may submit 2-dimensional and 3-dimensional works of any size and dimension. You will create one application and select 2D or 3D art type for each image.


The application deadline is September 1st, 2014. The winner will be announced, September 30th, 2014.


The Grand Prize

Smalti and Orsoni golds for a value of 1,000 Euros. One week class at the Orsoni Master in Mosaic, (5 days) a one week class between October 2014-October 2015.

Honorable Mention

(3) 1 kilo (2.2 pounds) of mixed Orsoni gold mosaic
All 5 winners will be represented at Orsoni with framed photographic posters exhibited in the Master Mosaic studio.


Application

Applications must be completed to enter the competition for 2014. Applications will be accepted until –September 1st 2014.

There will be no deadline extension.


Applicants may submit up to 4 pieces of mosaic art per application. A maximum of two mosaics for each for each art type, 2-D and 3-D. Each mosaic may have a maximum of two images, including full view and detail.

Submission Guidelines:

A free registration is required to submit an entry. Registration through JAS will allow the applicant to receive notification of all JAS exhibition opportunities. The JAS “Help” section offers extensive guidelines and suggestions for applicant participation and submission. Incomplete applications or artwork that does not meet the submission requirements will be ineligible for consideration. Mosaic submission grants permission to Angelo Orsoni and Trend to use the award winning images in their marketing materials (brochures, web site, etc.) for promotional and educational purposes. The artist will retain copyright to their image. All entries will be posted on the Orsoni website after the winners are announced.

Entry Requirements:

All artists may enter a maximum of four works of original mosaic art: two for each art type of 2-D and 3-D. Each work of art may have 2 images, one full and one detail for a maximum of 8 images for each application.


The application fee of $30 is payable by credit card or Paypal.


Please complete 1 application for up to 4 works of mosaic art , including all dimensions and weight.


The entries for the 2014 Orsoni Prize can now be any size, weight and dimension. This means that all architectural and large mosaics made with 75% Orsoni material are eligible.


Mosaic must have been created in 2012, 2013 or 2014.

Image Guidelines:

All images must conform to the following standards: Jpg format Between 1400 and 2000 pixels at the largest dimension 300 DPI One full and one detail image may be submitted for each work of mosaic art.


Exhibition

All 5 winners will be represented at Orsoni with framed photographic posters exhibited in the Master Mosaic studio.


The Grand Prize winning artist will have one year (October 2014-October 2015) in which to attend a week long Master in Mosaic class taught at Angelo Orsoni in Venice, Italy.
