To all Michigan artists:  The deadline for artist registration for the inaugural Detroit River ArtScape has been extended to midnight, Sunday, June 3, 2012.  ArtScape is an open art competition hosted by the Detroit Riverfront Conservancy in which winners are awarded more than $15,000 in cash prizes AND have the chance to showcase their work along the beautiful Detroit Riverfront.  Please apply now!

Detroit Riverfront Conservancy Presents:
A Fine Art Competition

June 22 - 24, 2012

The DETROIT RIVER ART SCAPE will take place during the Detroit River Days Festival, June 22 - 24 and will feature an art competition targeted at Detroit and Michigan Artists. In the first year, ten artists will be selected to showcase their art and win cash prizes of more than $15,000.00. The art showcase will take place from the Detroit Port Authority to Rivard Plaza with at least two artists being featured in the General Motors Wintergarden. The purpose of the event is to promote arts and culture in Detroit and showcase the Detroit Riverfront. The new attraction is intended to raise the already renowned quality of programming and culture at River Days, as well as to promote the Arts to the Metro Detroit community and specifically the 100,000 people that annually attend the River Days festival.

HOW TO PARTICIPATE:

This event is open to all Michigan artists, and they will be juried online, with a $20.00 jury fee. A panel of experts will review the submissions. The finalists will be invited to participate in the DETROIT RIVER ART SCAPE with the purpose of showcasing their work and be selected for additional prize opportunities. Artists may submit photographs of finished artwork, or submit detailed plans for any work they wish to create. Selected artwork must be completed in time to participate in Detroit River Art Prize 2012.

HOW FINALIST ARE SELECTED:

All work submitted will be judged by a panel of experts, who will select 10 pieces of artwork, to be shown at Detroit Art Project 2012.

PRIZES AND AWARDS:

Each selected finalist will receive a $500.00 award for displaying his or her winning artwork at the Detroit River Art Scape 2012.

Other awards are $2,500.00 first place awarded by the jurors and another $2,500.00 will be voted on by the public.. $1,500.00 second place awarded by the jurors and another $1,500.00 will be voted on by the public. $500.00 third place will by awarded by the jurors and another $500.00 will be voted on by the public.

Artists are eligible to win in all categories.

There will be a drawing from the Public Choice voters, and the selected person will win $1000.00 worth of prizes.

DETROIT ART PROJECT JURY:

Jury will be made up of, Detroit art educators, gallery owners, curators, or well known artists.

PEOPLE’S CHOICE AND ON-LINE PARTICIPATION:

Incentives will be created for the public to vote for finalists online as well as in person at Detroit Art Project, which will encourage artist-patron interaction. Anyone is eligible to vote in person or online. Voters will then be eligible to win prizes.

Selection: Each artist who has been chosen, and displays their selected artwork at the festival will receive a cash award of $500.00

Additionally:

First Place will receive $2,500.00

Second Place will receive $1,000.00

Third Place will receive $500.00

People's Choice award $2,500.00

People's Choice: Will be chosen by the attending public, with voting either online or in person

Rules:

Applicants must be 18 years or older

Plans for artwork must be completed by June 18, 2012 to be eligible to participate in Festival or win designated cash award(s)
