2010-12 PROSPECTUS:

METAL Inclinations2: 
An International Jewelry Juried Digital Exhibition
Debuts World Wide on the Internet  October 31, 2010- 12

METAL Inclinations:
Inclination: {Aptitude, tendency, disposition, penchant, prejudice,
direction, leaning, incline, preference.} The theme METAL inclinations should encourage creative license and elicit a variety of jewelry incorporating metal techniques.

ALL jewelry entered should incorporate metal. The 2010 METAL Inclinations2 International juried  exhibition will include selections of the most exemplary fine metal art jewelry created by metalsmiths, silversmiths, goldsmiths and jewelers all over the world.

Digital Application Checklist:

 *The application process is estimated to take 30 min. Please have the following ready.

  • For each work, you will need to provide: Title, a brief list of materials and techniques, width, depth, year created, digital image, and photographers credit (if needed).
  • $40 application fee, payable by major credit card through PayPal. Your application payment will be posted in your Juried Art Services account within 3 business days.

METAL Inclinations Schedule:

  • June 30, 2010- Deadline to enter, fee $40 for up to three images.
  • July 18, 2010- Extended deadline to enter, fee $50 for up to three images.
  • September 1, 2010- Jury results  emailed and posted online.
  • October 31, 2010- Metal Inclination Exhibition Debuts on the Internet
  • The exhibition will remain online for two years until October 31, 2012.

What selected artists receive:

The METAL Inclinations site will feature a Gallery web page of all the accepted works, plus each artist will have an individual web page that shows an enlarged version of their image/s with a short description and artist’s statement of 100 words or less. A link to the artist’s web site or email address will be included.  SMM will be promoting the exhibition and the artists worldwide.

  • AWARDS: $4,200 in cash and gift certificate awards (details here ).
  • No need to ship your precious jewelry around the world*, travel to shows or refrain from selling*  the selected artwork for the duration of the show.
  • If you sell a piece, SMM takes NO percentage of the sale.  Images will remain even if sold.Artists will receive world-wide recognition of their talents, through  ads & promotions for the site.
  • Artists will have access to a digital catalog at the end of the exhibition.
  • The exhibition will be displayed on the Internet for one full year.

Instructions:

  1. It is necessary to register with Juried Arts Services before applying. www.juriedartservices.com
  2. When you complete your digital application at www.JuriedArtServices.com, you will pay for your application using PayPal on the Juried Arts Services and your account will be credited within 3 business days.
    • Your application fee of $40 entitles you to enter up to 3 entries.
  3. Submit photography credit for each image if other than the artist.
  4. Complete all parts of the application.

 

Rules and Standards:

  • All jewelry entered should be original and one-of-a-kind and not previously exhibited in a Society for Midwest Metalsmiths show.
  • All jewelry should be completed in the last two years.
  • ALL entered jewelry should incorporate metal and use metalsmithing, silversmithing or goldsmithing techniques.
  • Artists must submit their own work
  • Submitting an application is acceptance of the exhibition rules.
  • Incomplete applications submitted to the JAS web site will be deemed ineligible.
  • Entry fee is not refundable. All decisions of the jurors are final.


Entry Details:
Enter all information including title, size, and year completed in the appropriate text box when uploading your images. Proofread your description and artist statement carefully.

Artist’s Statement:
An artist’s statement will be published on each artist’s personal page in the exhibition. A 100 word or less Artist’s Statement MUST also be entered at time of submission for each work. The artist’s statements and descriptions are REQUIRED for inclusion in the Exhibition and will be published as provided. Statements are included to provide insight and information for jurors, gallery visitors, docents and art collectors.
 

Image Guidelines:
Images must be sized at approx. 1400-2000 pixels at the longest or widest dimension for submission. Files must at 300 dpi in RGB format in the universal JPG format using maximum quality compression.

Images WILL NOT be reviewed if all guidelines are not followed.

Images of selected works will be retained for the SMM Library.  Submission indicates granting of rights to SMM to reproduce indefinitely.  SMM will also use the images for educational use, a downloadable digital catalog, SMM’s fund raising purposes and publicity for SMM and its sponsors. Artists retain all copyrights to their individual works.
