ARTIST - Requirements & Guidelines

  • To participate in Local Color Studio Tour artist must be a full time resident of Lubbock County
  • All work sold in Studio Tour must be original works of art, entirely the work of the entrant and completed within the last 24 months.
  • Each artist is required to be in their studio location during the hours of operation, for both days of the show.
  • Each artist is responsible for his/her set-up and take-down, as well as any breakage or loss incurred during the show.
  • Each participating artist is required to pay an entry fee once accepted to the show.  The entry fee will be $150 for members of the Lubbock Arts Alliance or $190 for non-members of the Lubbock Arts Alliance.  The entry fee for artists who are opening their studio/home for the event will be $125 for members of the Lubbock Arts Alliance or $165 for non-members.  No refunds for cancellation.
  • Each participating artist is required to share any additional cost for refreshments served during the show (to be agreed upon by individual studios and artists).
  • Artists are responsible for their own sales transactions and sales tax. Artists will be required to provide sales tax permit and/or sales tax number prior to the event.  Studio Tour does not take a percentage of sales.
  • Artists must provide a working e-mail address.  All correspondence from the Arts Alliance will come electronically.
  • Each participating artist must be juried into the show.  If more than one type of medium is to be exhibited during the Studio Tour, the artist must complete an application form indicating each media. Each medium will be juried in separately based upon its own merit.  The different forms of media are categorized as follows:  Painting, Ceramics/Pottery, Glass, Jewelry, Fiber, Mixed Media Metal, or Other.
  • NO late application forms will be accepted.
  • Selected artists must provide at least two images for publicity purposes.  The deadline for such is September 3, 2018.

HOST STUDIO - Requirements & Guidelines

  • Each venue will be required to host up to 5-6 additional artists (or more if a studio can comfortably accommodate it), all of whom have been juried into the tour.
  • Each venue must be able to accommodate both 2-D & 3-D art.  This includes allowing 2-D artists to hang artwork on walls of the studio – NO exceptions.
  • Each studio will provide adequate and equal display space for every artist showing in that particular studio, to be agreed upon by studio hosts and artists.
  • Host studio venues cannot place artists in basements, lofts, or any place that must be accessed through stairs.
  • Each studio host will be responsible for the pick up and return of yard signs and guest books that will be provided by Lubbock Arts Alliance (LAA)
  • Each studio and its participating artists will decide whether or not to serve alcohol. The Local Color Studio Tour, nor the LAA, will be responsible for any damage that may occur due to alcohol consumption.
  • Studio Tour host and artists may agree upon who will show in a particular studio.
  • Studio Tour hosts MUST name a contact person and provide an e-mail address for that contact person to whom all correspondence will be directed.
  • Host studios are encouraged to provide demonstrations throughout the event. Performances by local musicians are also welcome.
  • Host studios are required to notify the Arts Alliance immediately if an accident occurs during the event.  Failure to report an accident within 30 minutes of the occurrence will result in the host studio being disqualified from future participation in the Studio Tour.  Additionally, any claims made as a result of an accident will be filed first on the studios homeowner’s policy.
  • Host applicants will need to answer “YES” to the question on their online artist application asking if they want to be considered as a venue.


  • May 2018 ---Notification sent out for Studio Tour.  Applications must be submitted online through Juried Art Services, www.juriedartservices.com. Three (3) jpegs will be required for each media application. The images of the artwork submitted does not have to be for sale in the tour but must be representative of the art that will be for sale during the tour.
  • July 2018 – Notification of acceptance to participate in Studio Tour.
  • August 2018 – Announcement of studio locations and artist placement
  • September 3, 2018---2 jpegs due for each juried in media that will be for sale at Studio Tour for publicity. Please e-mail to lubbockstudiotour@gmail.com.
