OIL PAINTERS OF AMERICA®
Dedicated to the Preservation of Representational Art

Presents The

2016 Western Regional
Juried Exhibition Of Traditional Oils

OPA’s 2016 Western Regional Exhibition is being hosted by The Marshall Gallery of Fine Art, located in Scottsdale, Arizona, November 4 through November 30, 2016. If you enjoy visiting museums, The City of Scottsdale offers many opportunities, such as the Pueblo Grande Museum and Archaeological Park featuring Native American culture, the Musical Instrument Museum with over 5,000 instruments and artifacts, and the Arizona Commemorative Air Force Aviation Museum with over 30 historic aircraft. Also available is an interesting tour of Frank Lloyd Wright’s winter home and studio, Taliesin West. For the hiking enthusiast The McDowell Sonoran Preserve offers trails to view the desert, wildlife and the beautiful Arizona sunset. Or you might want to explore the Downtown Area of Scottsdale via the free trolley. The Marshall Gallery of Fine Art is hosting an opening reception on Friday, November 4, from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with the awards presentation at 7:30 p.m.

Our goal is to assemble the finest display of representational oil paintings. The focus in the jurying process will be to select paintings that show the highest quality in draftsmanship, color, and composition, emphasizing a diversity in representational style and subject matter.

The total awards will be approximately $11,500, including a $4,000 Best In Show.

The awarding juror will be OPA Master Signature member Marc Hanson.

Eligible states and provinces include: Alaska, Alberta, Arizona, British Columbia, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Kansas, Manitoba, Montana, Nebraska, New Mexico, Nevada, North Dakota, Northwest Territories, Nunavut, Oklahoma, Oregon, Saskatchewan, South Dakota, Texas, Utah, Washington, Wyoming, Yukon Territories, and all of Mexico.

Artists must be either 2016 OPA paid members or have submitted an application for membership for 2016 to be eligible to submit an entry in this exhibition. Artists whose residency is in question must provide OPA with documentation certifying legal residency. See Bylaws Article II K on-line for definition of residency requirements.

Liabilities and Responsibilities

Oil Painters of America and The Marshall Gallery of Fine Art will not be responsible for loss or damage of any artwork, no matter what the cause. By submitting artwork to this exhibition, each artist will be deemed to have concurred with this agreement. Artists pay for shipping both ways. We suggest that you provide insurance to cover the full value of the artwork while in transit.

Howard Friedland, Signature Member and OPA Board Member, will serve as chairman of a Jurying Committee consisting of five Master Signature or Signature members of OPA. The results of the jurying will be final. No refunds will be made on unaccepted entries.
