Eligibility
Any artist 18 years of age or older who is a present or former resident of Indiana.
Professional Division: Individuals who support themselves primarily through their art, either as art teachers or by earning $4,000 or more per year (in art sales, commissions, or prize money).
Avocational Division: Art hobbyists and enthusiasts, anyone who earns less than $4,000 per year (in art sales, commission or prize money) or who does not teach art.
Eligible Artwork includes: Paintings, Drawings, Mixed Media, Prints, Sculpture, Fiber, Metalwork, Ceramics and Photography. Video art is not eligible.
The work must have been completed in the past two years and not accepted previously for any juried exhibition at Minnetrista. No entry may exceed 60 inches in any direction and 100 pounds in weight. All two dimensional entries must be properly framed and ready to hang (i.e. framed or ready to hang, no saw tooth hangers or clips will be accepted). Paint must be dry. A single entry may contain no more than four component parts.
Entry Procedures
The Minnetrista Juried Art Show is going digital!
Up to three entries may be submitted to the art show via JuriedArtServices.com. The event listing will be live and open for submissions from August 1 to October 15, 2022.
Drop-off appointments for artwork juried into the exhibition will be held January 14-16, 2023. The juror will select award winners from an in-person examination of all accepted artwork prior to the Opening Reception on Friday, January 27.
Any artwork not on site by end of business on Monday, January 16 will not be eligible for display. Artists with a potential scheduling conflict should contact Nalleli Guillen (Associate Director of Curation & Exhibition; 765.287.3531 or nguillen@minnetrista.net) prior to January 14, 2023 to make alternative arrangements.
Entry Fee
Entry fees are non-refundable and payable by credit card upon submission at JuriedArtServices.com. The fees are $35 for museum members; $40 for non members; $20 for students with a valid student email address.
Digital Entry Assistance
On October 10, Minnetrista will offer a free workshop for local prospective artists interested in entering the Annual but requiring assistance with the new digital procedures. Minnetrista staff will be on hand to offer advice and assistance for photographing art and to provide technical support related to the JuriedArtServices web platform. Juror – Shaun Thomas Dingwerth
Shaun Thomas Dingwerth has served as the Executive Director at the Richmond Art Museum, Richmond, Indiana since 2004. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance from Indiana University, Bloomington, Indiana. Before becoming the Executive Director, he served as the Director of Operations for five years.
An author, his publication, The Richmond Group Artists, was released by Indiana University Press in 2014. He has also had articles published in national art magazines including Plein Air Magazine and Fine Art Connoisseur. Dingwerth was awarded the Chancellor’s Medallion, the highest honor presented by the Indiana University East Chancellor in 2017.
Dingwerth serves as a board director for Richmond Neighborhood Restoration Inc., a preservation group, and is the facilitator for the Wayne County Cultural Alliance and Arts Fusion. He is frequently asked to juror at area art exhibitions across Indiana and Ohio.
Awards
Approximately $2,500 in prizes will be awarded.
Awards Reception and Dates of Exhibit
All entrants plus one guest are invited to attend the opening reception on Friday January 27, 2023, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Awards will be presented at approximately 6:15 p.m. The exhibit will be open to the public January 28 to April 16, 2023.
Sales
All artists are encouraged to offer their artwork for sale. Minnetrista is solely responsible for all sales and will retain 30% of the selling price of each work sold (updated from previous years to align with regional trends). Artwork sold may not be removed until after show closes Sunday, April 16, 2023. Pickups may begin Wednesday, April 19, 2023.
Insurance and Agreement
Submission of artwork shall be understood to indicate agreement to abide by the rules and the decision of the juror. Entry constitutes permission to photograph artwork and use the images in publications, advertisements or promotional materials. Artwork may not be withdrawn prior to the close of the exhibit. All accepted works will be insured while at Minnetrista at a value agreeable to the artist and to Minnetrista. Minnetrista will not be responsible for insuring unclaimed artwork after Monday, July 31, 2023.
