The Rock Island Art Guild is celebrating its 41st Fine Arts Exhibition in 2020! Once again the exhibition is at the Figge Art Museum in Davenport, Iowa, from January 18 to April 19, 2020. 

 


 

 

Artists within a 150-mile radius of Rock Island are encouraged to enter up to 2 original works of art (per entry fee) that have been created in the last 5 years. Sculpture may include one additional detail image. This year’s juror is Candace Moeller, independent curator and associate director of Cristin Tierney Gallery in New York, NY.

Sally MacMillan Watercolor Award: $500

Founder’s Award: $500

Zeivel Harris Sculpture Award: $500

Honorable Mentions: $100

People’s Choice Award (selected by visitor votes): $50

Children’s Choice Award (selected by visitor votes): $50


 

ELIGIBILITY

The exhibition is open to artists residing within a 150-mile radius of Rock Island. Entries are limited to 2 original works of art (per entry fee) and must have been created in the last 5 years. Giclée reproductions will not be considered for inclusion in the exhibition. Works with multiple components will be considered as one entry. Works previously exhibited in the Rock Island Art Guild Fine Arts Exhibition will not be accepted. Works which are currently in, or will be acquired by a private or museum collection during the course of the exhibition will not be accepted. 


 

SPECIFICATIONS

All two-dimensional works must be framed and ready to be installed. Glass is acceptable for works under 14”; if larger, plexiglass is strongly recommended. Frames and mats must be museum quality, clean and in good condition. D rings are preferred over wire. Hanging works may not exceed 6 x 8 foot framed dimensions. Three-dimensional work should not exceed 10 foot x 12 foot x 10 foot, be freestanding, and must be movable by 2 people. All works must have an identification label on the reverse or underside of the work. A work requiring special installation must come with clear instructions and/or diagrams. Installation by the artist may be requested. 


 

LIABILITY

The Figge Art Museum and the Rock Island Art Guild are not responsible for items damaged due to improper packing or from transit damage. All work will be insured by the Figge Art Museum for the duration  of the exhibit. Work will not be insured for more than the sale price.


 

JURYING PROCESS

The juror will select artworks for the exhibition based on the artist submitted digital images, with the artist’s name withheld. The juror will choose the award recipients after seeing the installed exhibition in person. 


 

DECLARATION

The Rock Island Art Guild and the Figge Art Museum reserve the right to photograph works for the purpose of documentation, education, and publicity. Museum visitors are allowed to photograph artwork, without flash, during this exhibition. Works may be included on both the Rock Island Art Guild and Figge Art Museum’s websites. Submission of an entry to this exhibition constitutes an agreement with all conditions of this prospectus by the entrant.


 

DELIVERY/RETURN OF ARTWORK

Artists are responsible for the whole cost of shipping. Mailed works must arrive by January 11, 2020 with a prepaid return label enclosed. Hand delivered works may be delivered on January 10 and January 11 from 10-4 pm. Deliver to the Figge Art Museum located at 225 West 2nd Street in Davenport, Iowa. Pick up dates for hand delivered works are April 26 and April 27 from 10-4pm at the Figge Art Museum. ID may be required before works are released. The Figge Art Museum and the Rock Island Art Guild are not responsible for works which are not picked up after 30 days from the close of the exhibition.
