Gretel Geist Rutledge

“Lasting Impression-A Juried Exhibit of Traditional Printmaking”

January 10-February 28, 2016

Grove Gallery & Studios is pleased to announce a juried exhibit for printmakers.  Lasting Impression honors the memory and passion for printmaking of founding member, Gretel Geist Rutledge.

Gretel discovered a deep love and talent for printmaking upon her retirement from the Michigan State University theater department where she designed sets and costumes for more than 100 productions and served as design consultant for the principal theaters in Michigan, as well as in New York. In the art of printmaking, she found a heart connection to “the process” of design that she enjoyed in her career.

Even though Gretel thought of herself as a beginning artist embarking on a second career, she was an artist in the truest sense of the word. Gretel was a supportive and encouraging gallery partner dedicated to building a community of professional and emerging artists.

In this spirit, Grove Gallery & Studios invites applications for Lasting Impression, a juried exhibit for printmakers.
