Prospectus

The Rock Island Art Guild celebrates it’s 60 year anniversary this September.  The Guild was formed by artists and patrons of the arts who wanted to highlight our talented artists and support arts education in the community.  The Rock Island Art Guild is proud to partner with the Figge Art Museum in Davenport, Iowa, in hosting our 39th Fine Arts Exhibition.  We are proud of our thriving arts community and look forward to the upcoming Fine Arts Exhibition.

The Rock Island Art Guild’s 39th Fine Arts Exhibition is being held at the Figge Art Museum in Davenport, Iowa, from February 6 to May 15, 2016. Artists within a 150 mile radius of Rock Island are encouraged to enter up to two original works of art (per entry fee) that must have been created in the last five years. The juror is Julie Rodrigues Widholm, Director of De Paul Art Museum in Chicago.

Bernice and Stanley Harris Two-dimensional Award: $500

People’s Choice Voted by Visitors: $50
Children’s Choice Voted by Visitors: $50

The Figge Art Museum will host an opening reception at 5:30 pm on February 11, 2016.
Awards will be announced at 7:00 pm.

Call for Entries

Painting, Works on paper, Sculpture, Photography, Mixed media, Ceramics

Eligibility:

The exhibition is open to artists residing within a 150-mile radius of the Quad Cities. Entries are limited to two original works of art (per entry fee) and must have been created in the last five years. Giclée reproductions are not considered to be original. Diptychs and triptychs will be counted as one entry. Works previously exhibited in the Rock Island Fine Arts Exhibition will not be accepted.

Specifications:

A two-dimensional entry installed on a wall must be framed and ready to be installed. Glass is acceptable for works under 14”; if larger, plexiglass is strongly recommended. Frames and mats must be museum quality, clean, and in good condition. D rings are preferred over wire. Hanging works may not exceed 6 foot x 8 foot framed dimensions. Three-dimensional work should not exceed 8 foot x 6 foot x 6 foot in any direction per object, be free standing, and it must be movable by two people. All works must have an identification label on reverse or underside. A work requiring special installation must come with clear instructions and/or diagrams.

Liability

The Figge Art Museum and the Rock Island Art Guild are not responsible for items damaged due to improper packing or from damages that occur during transit. All work will be insured for the duration of the exhibit. Work will not be insured for more than the sale price.

Jurying Process

Selection of artwork included in this show is made by the juror from digital images. Awards are selected by the juror from the installed exhibition in person.

Declarations:

The Rock Island Art Guild and the Figge Art Museum reserve the right to photograph works for the purpose of documentation, education, and publicity. Works may be included on both the Rock Island Art Guild and Figge Art Museum’s websites. Submission of an entry to this exhibition constitutes an agreement with all conditions of this prospectus by the entrant.

Delivery/Return of Artwork:

Artists are responsible for the whole cost of shipping. Mailed works must arrive by January 25th with a prepaid return label enclosed. Hand-delivered works may be delivered on January 29th and 30th from 10-4 pm. Deliver to Figge Art Museum located at 225 West 2nd Street in Davenport, Iowa. Pick-up dates for hand-delivered works are May 20th and 21st from 10-4 pm at the Figge Art Museum.  ID may be required before works are released. The Figge Art Museum and the Rock Island Art Guild are not responsible for works left over 30 days.
