CALL FOR ARTISTS

The Figure 4th Annual National Juried Art Competition & Exhibition (2-D media only) Exhibit Dates: August 7 – September 23, 2015 Guest Jurors: Kathryn Markel & Peter Marcelle |
THEME: Active or posed, naked or clothed, male or female, human or otherwise, realistic or suggested, front, back or sideways, one or many… the figure has fascinated for as long as mankind has made art. This competition requires that the feature be ‘The Figure’.
MEDIUMS: Open to any two-dimensional media, (painting, drawing, original fine art prints, photography, collage, etc). Must be the original work of one artist, no collaborations, no reproductions.
SUBMISSIONS: Minimum of 2 and maximum of 5 JPEGS may be submitted online, for the same entry fee.
AWARDS: ‘Best in Show’ winner will receive a seven-day stay in East End Arts’ Artist Residence near Hamptons’ museums and galleries, plus $1,000 and inclusion in a group show at The Peter Marcelle Project, art gallery in Southampton NY. Winner will also receive 100 postcards announcing the show featuring her/his artwork.
SIZE: Maximum 30" wide x 30" high , including the frame.
ABOUT THE JURORS: Kathryn Markel owns Kathryn Markel Fine Art in Chelsea, and in Bridgehampton, New York. Peter Marcelle is the director of the Gerald Peters Gallery in New York and owns The Peter Marcelle Project in Southampton, NY. CALENDAR: Deadline for online submissions is April 7, 2015. Late submission deadline is April 14, 2015 (additional $15 late fee.) Submissions will be accepted between now and the deadline. Artists will be notified of the jurors’ decisions on or before June 3, 2015. If accepted please follow the presentation and shipping rules as specified on our website . FEES: There will be a $45 entry fee payable at the time of online submission. Each artist may enter up to 5 jpeg images for consideration. The late submission entry fee is $60.
OPENING RECEPTION will be held on Friday, August 7, 2015, 5 – 7 PM at the East End Arts Gallery, located at 133 E. Main Street, Riverhead, NY 11901.
