Tri-County Biennial Competition

Entry Deadline: Wednesday, Feb. 25th, 2015

Artist Eligibility:

Artists participating in the juried competition must be residents of Broward, Palm Beach or Miami-Dade Counties of South Florida. You do not have to be a member of the Broward Art Guild to enter, however BAG Members get discounted entry fees into this exhibit, as outlined below.

Artwork Eligibility:

• All work must be the artist’s original work. No reproductions will be accepted.

• All works must have been completed within the last two years, and must not have been displayed previously in a Tri-County or Art Florida exhibition for the Broward Art Guild.

• The jury panel ultimately selects the collection of works to exhibit, and has the right of refusal if the exhibit’s criteria have not been met. Entry does not guarantee exhibition of entered work(s).

• Venue has the right of refusal of work that is deemed inappropriate for a professional gallery setting. Works must be acceptable for family viewing.

• Juried artwork will be rejected if they do not conform to the above specifications.

Awards:

The Broward Art Guild 2015 Tri-County Biennial will present the following awards:

• (1) Best In Show: $500 cash prize and award ribbon

• (1) 2nd Place: $200 cash prize and award ribbon

• (1) 3rd Place: $100 cash prize and award ribbon

(4) Honorable Mention: Award ribbons

• (1) People's Choice: Award Ribbon (Selected by majority vote of guests of the opening and awards reception)

Tri-County Biennial 2015 Timeline

Wednesday, Feb. 25th, 2015 - Entry Deadline

Friday, March 27th, 2015 - Notification of Acceptance

Saturday, April 11th, 2015 Noon-2:00pm - Delivery of accepted works

Saturday, April 18th, 2015 from 6:00-9:00pm - Opening and Awards Reception

Saturday, May 2nd, 2015 from Noon-2:00pm* - Pickup of exhibited works (Note: For works that are not picked up on this date and time, artists will incur a $50 handling and transport charge to transport works to the Broward Art Gallery, and must make arrangements during regular BAG hours for pickup)

BAG Members: $35 for up to 2 entries of 2-D or 3-D work or 2 collections of 3 pieces of Jewelry (6 pieces of Jewelry in total), $10 for each additional 2-D/3-D entry or additional 3 piece collection of Jewelry. FEES ARE NOT REFUNDABLE.

Non-BAG Members: $45 for up to 2 entries of 2-D or 3-D work or 2 collections of 3 pieces of Jewelry (6 pieces of Jewelry in total), $10 for each additional 2-D/3-D entry or additional 3 piece collection of Jewelry. FEES ARE NOT REFUNDABLE.

Artists may submit up to two artwork images per entry. Images of Jewelry collections must be in a combined image, as each "entry" is allowed only one main image and a supporting detail/alternate view image.

JPEG Image Specifications:

• Submit images in JPEG format, with the highest quality setting.

• Minimum resolution: 300ppi

• Minimum of 1800 pixels on the longest side

• Size not to exceed: 5 MB

• Crop out all matting or framing

• Correctly orient the image as viewed, vertical or horizontal

Rename the image with the title for the artwork. Since the image will be uploaded to your JAS account, do not add your name. JAS will assign it an identification number.

BAG reserves the right to reject any juried painting that is noticeable different from the JPEG image or does not comply with entry specifications.

Entry Methods:

Membership dues may be renewed online using PayPal at www.BrowardArtGuild.org. Membership dues may also be paid online through Juried Art Services along with the application fee.

All entry applications will be submitted online through Juried Art Services. A link to the application can be found at www.BrowardArtGuild.org. To make this process easy, first prepare your images for uploading. Then click on the JAS logo to obtain the Tri-County application. Set up or log into an account with JAS. Once that is done, fill out and submit your application to the Tri-County Biennial Exhibit for 2015. Submit your application fee via PayPal, or submit your $75.00 membership dues plus application fee via PayPal. Look for the drop down box when paying to make the right choice.

Shipping:

Accepted artwork must be shipped in a reusable box via UPS or FedEx including PREPAID return shipping labels. Return labels must include a bar code.

• Shipping artwork in Airfloat or U-LINE boxes is strongly recommended. No wooden boxes. No screws or nails. No peanuts.

• Additional instructions for shipping to ArtServe will be provided on request. (Works will not be accepted at the Broward Art Guild) These shipping instructions must be strictly followed. All packages must be clearly marked "Broward Art Guild Tri-County Exhibit" on the outside.

Sales:

• Artwork will be for sale unless specified NFS by the artist. The Broward Art Guild will retain 30% of the sale for commission. Price works accordingly. A pricing guide can be found at: https://browardartguild.org/pricing-guide.htm. BAG will handle the potential buyer deal directly. Works sold will remain in the gallery until the completion of the show. The purchaser and BAG will make arrangements for delivery of the artwork to the purchaser at the purchaser’s expense.

• No price changes can be made after acceptance into the exhibition.

Artist’s Agreement:

Submission of the entry shall serve as an agreement by the artist that all conditions in this prospectus have been met. The Broward Art Guild (BAG) and its officers and The JM Family Enterprises Gallery at ArtServe and its representatives and employees are released and discharged of any and all claims made by damage or loss of the painting while in the possession of BAG. Each artist must carry their own insurance for shipping damage and/or damage during the exhibit.

Images of selected art will be used for publicity and on the organizations’ websites and social media platforms at the discretion of BAG. No work accepted for the BAG Tri-County Biennial Exhibition may be withdrawn prior to close of the exhibit.

The Broward Art Guild has adopted the following policy relating to acceptance/display in any juried exhibition:

“Any BAG member who attempts to influence, intimidate and/or harass a judge, exhibitor, Board member, or exhibition committee member can be banned from the current show and from future entry into BAG exhibitions by a vote of the Board. The juror’s decision will be final for awards.”
