Our goal is to assemble the finest display of representational oil paintings. The focus in the jurying to select paintings that show the highest quality in draftsmanship, color, and composition, emphasizing a diversity in representational style and subject matter.

BECAUSE EACH WORK IS JURIED SEPARATELY, EACH WORK MUST HAVE ITS OWN APPLICATION. 1 image per entry. Maximum entries two (2). One entry is $20.00 the second entry is an additional $10.00. Please complete payment for the first application before you create an additional application. Once you have paid, click APPLY TO SHOW under SYSTEM CONTROLS on the left of the screen to create your next entry.

MEMBERSHIP AND ELIGIBILTY

AWARDS

Total Awards will be approximately $40,000, including a $20,000 Best In Show.

ABOUT THE JUROR OF AWARDS

The awarding juror for this year’s 2008 National Juried Exhibition is Master Signature Member and internationally renowned artist Ramon Kelley.

ENTRY INFORMATION

● Representational oil paintings of original concept and design only.

● Paintings entered should be of current work and should not have been accepted for a previous OPA National Show.

● Canvas size: Longest dimension shall not exceed 40”. Smallest dimension shall not exceed 30”

● Paintings must be framed and wired for hanging.

● Maximum entries (2). However, only one painting can be accepted.

● Artist retains copyright to their image(s). However, accepted images do become part of OPA archives and may be used for future OPA event promotion.

Please note: Accepted Entries will be posted on-line beginning Monday, February 25, 2008.

On-line Submissions – Deadline: Thursday, January 24, 2008

Mailed-in Submissions – Deadline: Thursday, January 17, 2008

Hardcopy mailed applications with slide submittals only will be accepted if postmarked on or before January 17, 2008. An additional $15 charge over and above the entry fee will apply. A printable application can be found at https://www.oilpaintersofamerica.com/ , under the events section.

Jurying Fees

The jurying fee for electronic entries is as follows: one painting is $20.00 or $30.00 for two paintings. Only one painting can be accepted. Electronic payment may be made by credit card or through paypal. No e-checks will be accepted. Jurying fees for on-line submission may also be paid by check if postmarked by Thursday, January 17, 2008.

Please note, you must also be a paid member through December 31, 2008 at a cost of $60.00. If you are currently not a member or have not paid your 2007 membership dues, OPA will accept your entry provided that 1.) an electronic membership fee is paid by Thursday, January 24, 2008 or 2.) a mailed membership application with your annual dues are postmarked no later than Friday, January 4, 2008. Images

Images should be a width of 1400 pixels for landscape images (wide images) and a height of 1400 pixels for portrait images (tall images) at 300 dpi. Specific details on how to prepare you image properly can be found under the Juried Art Services “help” tab.

Notification of Acceptance

Artists who submitted on-line will receive an e-mail notification on Monday, February 25th. If for any reason you do not receive an e-mail, a list of accepted entries will be posted on-line beginning February 25, 2008, on the OPA website at: https://www.oilpaintersofamerica.com.

Be careful that you have entered your correct e-mail address at Juried Art Services. While most members should not have trouble receiving e-mails from Juried Art Services, you may want to add the e-mail address: juriedartservices.com to your safe senders list or trusted site list. Some e-mail systems also allow you to set up a rule to accept e-mail from a particular e-mail address.

Artists who submit slides will receive a hardcopy notification in the mail provided that a self addressed, stamped envelope is included with their application.

Sales Commission

Sales commission of 40% is required by the gallery for all paintings sold. Please take this into consideration when setting your price. All work that is submitted must be for sale. NO NFS.

DELIVERY AND RETURN OF ACCEPTED WORK

Delivery for Local Artists and Out of Town Artists: All paintings must arrive at the gallery between Monday, April 14 and Friday, April 18, 2008. Out of Town Artists, please ship to Dana Gallery, 246 N. Higgins, Missoula, Montana. 59802. Local artists, please deliver uncrated paintings during regular gallery hours (See gallery hours).

Handling Fee: Out of Town Artists must include a $25 check payable to Dana Gallery to cover the cost of uncrating, storage of crates, recrating and contacting your shipper for return.

Return Shipping: The cost of shipping the painting(s) both to and from the show is the responsibility of the artist.

Return shipping label is to be included with the artwork - Fed Ex or UPS prepaid return shipment is required.

No checks or COD’s.

Local artists must remove paintings during this week, or a storage fee will be charged.

LIABILITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Oil Painters of America and Dana Gallery will not be responsible for loss or damage of any artwork, no matter what the cause. By submitting artwork to this exhibition, each artist will be deemed to have concurred with this agreement.

ARTISTS PAY FOR SHIPPING BOTH WAYS. WE SUGGEST YOU PROVIDE INSURANCE TO COVER THE FULL VALUE OF THE ARTWORK WHILE IN TRANSIT.

William Schneider OPA, Signature Member, will serve as chairman of a Jurying Committee consisting of five Master Signature or Signature Members. The results of the jurying will be final. No refund of entry fee on unaccepted submissions. Participants will be notified of the juror’s selections.
