Prospectus

Art Olympia 2015 is a new international open art competition. The main goals are to discover talented artists and to support them so that their global art careers may flourish. Art Olympia will give away a total of $500,000 in cash awards and prizes to 240 select artists from all over the world. 

Art Olympia embodies the following three concepts:

(1) CONNECT 
First of all, we would like to establish a worldwide hub of art and culture which would meet and connect domestic artists to international artists.
 
By introducing artists through Art Olympia, we aim to expand their opportunities to succeed, from their local environment to infinite boundaries.
 

(2) DISCOVER 
Secondly, we would like to discover future global artists. Art Olympia will collect artworks from all over the world and invite domestic and foreign art experts as jurors.
 

A variety of jurors from different cultural and historical backgrounds will broaden the possibility of recognizing talented artists.
 

(3) CREATE 
Lastly, our passion is to encourage and inspire artists creating the next generation of art and a new aesthetic sense of beauty.
 
We believe the exchange of culture through Art Olympia will stimulate artists to grow beyond their borders.

Prospectus for New York base

Primary round judging will be held at three locations, New York, Paris and Tokyo, to select 80 works from each location, which will proceed to the final judging. At the final round judging 240 artworks will be evaluated in Tokyo to decide the winners.

AWARDS:

For general awards, the first prize winner will receive $120,000, the second prize winner $30,000, and the third prize winner $20,000 with the Art Olympia original trophies.

For student awards, the first prize winner will receive $20,000, the second $10,000, and the third $5,000with the Art Olympia original trophies

There are special prizes from Art Olympia in addition to the first to sixth prize. Student artists will automatically be considered for both general awards and student awards.

All of the 240 finalists will receive cash prizes, have their works displayed at the exhibition, will have exposure on worldwide art magazines, and will be listed on the original pictorial records of works as well as the Art Olympia website.

At the primary round judging, five art experts will evaluate the works as digital images. At the final round judging, fifteen jurors will evaluate and decide the winners by looking at the actual works. In order to have the competition fair, works will be judged by a point system, and total points and the ranking of the finalist will be announced officially. Fifteen special prizes from the jurors for general competition and another fifteen for student competition will be awarded to the works which each juror scores the highest. This is not to miss out the works which has split evaluation among jurors.

Entry Rules and Regulations

(1) 2-dimentional works, which can be representational or abstract; oil, acrylic, watercolor, pastel, mineral pigments, print, charcoal, digital/multimedia art, mixed media etc. (photography, calligraphy, video, sculpture, and group/collaboration works are not accepted)

(2) Original works that have never been previously submitted to other competitions (rule offender will be revoked)

(3) Size and weight

Maximum Size: 117cm x 117cm (46 x 46 inch)

There is no minimum size.

Maximum Depth: 10cm (4 inch) (including the frame)

Maximum weight: 20kg (44.1lbs)

(4) Framing

For protection purposes, the work entered MUST be framed. The frame must be deeper than the work and no wider than 8cm (3.2 inch). Unframed works will not be accepted for the final round judging.

Glass should not be use for framing, but acrylic glass is acceptable.

Please note the works which does not comply with the rules WILL NOT be accepted.

Entry Period

Entry Period: December 01, 2014 – March 31, 2015

Entry must be competed and registration fee must be paid by 11:59pm PDT on March 31st 2015. No submission is accepted after the closing time.

Eligibility

1.Regardless of nationality, you must be a resident of North & South America continent and the age of 18 or older.

2.Your goal is to become a professional artist and you are determined to continue art.

3.Categories

●General Category: All entrants

●Student Category: Entrants who are enrolled in a university (grad school) or technical school or similar at the time of entry

*All participants are entitled to enter in the General Category regardless of age, etc.

*Participants who are students are entitled to simultaneously enter the Student Category.

Entry Fee

General submission: $60 for 1 image, $100 for 2 images, $140 for 3 images

Student submission: $40 for 1 image, $70 for 2 images, $100 for 3 images

*Each artist is limited to THREE images.

Payment: We accept Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover, and PayPal.

*Please note entry fees are non-refundable and non-transferrable for any reason.

-Entrants are responsible for shipping their works to the designated address in Tokyo and purchasing any insurance desire

- Art Olympia will bear the return shipping cost, insurance from Tokyo, and customs procedures for returning. (Works will be shipped to the designated address by the entrant.)

Online Submission

All the submission must be done through our online entry system, and we do not accept entry with the print-out entry form.

Prior to the online entry, please have the following informaiton ready to get things done on time. Please follow the JAS entry system.

- contact information for the registration and notification

- title, actual artwork size& weight, materials, theme, produced year of the work

- high quality image of the work (JPG format)

Please note the followings,

- The work should be no larger than 117x117 centimeters (46x46 inches).

- All works must be framed or stretched, adequately wired and ready to hang.

- The value of the work must be $2,000 or less. (The works with the value of over $2,000 will not be accepted.)

- The works that have been previously submitted to other competitions will not be accepted
