SUBMISSIONS

An open, juried exhibition where artists will emulate the style of the Barbizon school or the Impressionist movement by creating their paintings and pastels outside. Submit paintings or pastels of subject matter that is entirely left to the artist to decide. Show the essence of what the scene is and capture the changing light and its influence on color.

This exhibition will be installed just prior to the Lighthouse ArtCenter’s 2nd Annual Plein Air Festival and will be on display from January 15 through March 28, 2015. (The 2nd Annual Plein Air Festival is March 12-15, 2015, please see separate call on Juried Art Services) ALL Plein Air will be on display until March 28, 2015 in an effort to maximize marketing and sales of artwork.

Cash awards for Best of Show and place winners.

Selection will be based on submitted images, therefore it is possible for an artist to have more than one piece selected for the show.

Open to all artists, professional, amateur and students.

Entrants may submit up to three pieces of artwork to be considered for this exhibition.

DELIVERY AND PREPARATION

Selected artwork must be hand-delivered to the ArtCenter on Sun., January 11 (10 a.m. -2 p.m.) OR Mon., January 12 (10 a.m.- 6 p.m.)

Artwork that is shipped must be scheduled for delivery to arrive ON the following days and times ONLY: Monday, January 5 (10 a.m. – 4 p.m.)

Wednesday, January 7 (10 a.m. – 4 p.m.)

Monday, January 12 (10 a.m. – 4 p.m.)

Tuesday, January 13 (BEFORE noon)

Plein air work must be framed and wired, ready to hang. Please put a label on the back with your name, title of work, medium, size, and retail price. The ArtCenter has the right to refuse to hang artwork not properly prepared for display or that differs from submitted images.

FRAMING

It is suggested that frames be simple plein air style frames with little or no adornment. Artwork must be ready to hang with wire in place. “Saw tooth” hangers are not compatible with our hanging system and are often unstable, we will not hang work by this method.

SHIPPING

• Accepted paintings may be shipped in a reusable box via UPS or FedEx including PREPAID return shipping labels. Return labels must include a bar code.

• Shipping artwork in Airfloat StrongBox or U-LINE boxes is strongly recommended. No wood crates and no packing peanuts please.

At the conclusion of the exhibition, artists may either pick up unsold work, donate it to the ArtCenter (a 501 (c)3 nonprofit organization) and receive a donation receipt or elect to have it shipped back to them as long as shipping costs and packaging have been provided.
