a National Exhibition
From festivals celebrating fertility to the martyrdom of a bishop in ancient Rome, Valentine's Day was born out of auspicious beginnings clouded in speculation, mystery, history and romance. Every February 14th around the world, lovers celebrate with gifts of candy, flowers and jewels. Love is what fuels our hearts and souls. We search for it, suffer for it and embrace it like no other emotion. Express it through your art. Explore and display your greatest desires.
This National Exhibition will be juried by Bruce Helander. Mr. Helander is the former Editor-in-Chief of The Art Economist magazine and has written extensively on contemporary art and is a regular featured columnist for the Huffington Post.
As a curator, Helander has coordinated over eighty exhibitions of contemporary works. He has organized one-man shows for Robert Rauschenberg, James Rosenquist, John Chamberlain, Duane Hanson, Larry Poons, Jules Olitski, Dale Chihuly and Kenneth Noland, among others. Highly regarded a juror for art and museum competitions, he has served for the Philadelphia Museum and other leading institutions.

Deadline for receiving applications is December 15, 2014
Application fee: $35.00 per 3 entries, $10.00 for 4th entry, $10.00 for 5th entry.
The non-refundable fee for applications is payable online by credit card. No applications will be accepted after December 15, 2014
AWARDS:
An exhibition award at the Wheelhouse Gallery, Santa Fe, NM will be given to the top three artists in this competition.
MEDIUMS:
Drawing, mixed media, painting, photography, printmaking and 3-D wall art.
CALENDAR:
Deadline for application: December 15, 2014
Notification of acceptance emailed: December 20, 2014
Artist contracts are due: January 3, 2015
Shipped and hand delivered art due: January 23, 2015
Exhibition Dates: February 7 - March 4, 2014
Artwork will be returned after March 11, 2015, hand delivered work may be picked up after March 11, 2015. Artwork picked up by anyone other than the artist must have a written signed waiver.

AGREEMENT: No work may be withdrawn before the close of the exhibition. Sending an entry to this exhibition shall imply an agreement on the part of the sender to all the conditions set forth.
SALES: All entries must be for sale. Wheelhouse Gallery will retain 50% commission on all sales. Artists will be paid by March 30, 2014.
INSURANCE: Entries will be insured by Wheelhouse Gallery for 50% of the selling value of the artwork while in its custody. Shipping insurance is the responsibility of the entrant.
SHIPPING: All artwork will be shipped at the artist’s expense to and from the Wheelhouse Gallery at 418 Montezuma Avenue, Santa Fe, New Mexico 87501.
