She has a bachelor's degree from Stephens College in Business Administration and a master's degree in Museum Studies/Exhibition Design from California State University, Fullerton. Watts is also consulting curator for the Marin Community Foundation in Novato, California and was previously Chief Curator at the Sonoma County Museum in Santa Rosa. ELIGIBILITY

Watercolor U.S.A. 2015 may be entered by any artist, 18 years of age or older, living in the United States of America or its possessions.

HANDLING FEE

A nonrefundable entry fee of $40.00 will be charged for up to two entries. Members of the Watercolor U.S.A. Honor Society will be charged $30.00 for up to two entries. Each artist is allowed a maximum of two entries.

WORK ELIGIBLE

A maximum of two entries per artist may be submitted for consideration. Artwork must utilize water-soluble paint as the primary medium. However, the Museum is particularly interested in highlighting artists who utilize watercolor in intriguing ways, both in terms of the content of the imagery as well as the process in which it was made. Artists whose work pushes the boundaries of traditional aqueous media are encouraged to enter. All artwork must be original, executed since January 1, 2014, and not previously shown at the Springfield Art Museum. All 2-D work accepted for the exhibition must be ready to hang.

SIZE RESTRICTIONS

All work accepted for the exhibition must be ready for display. For 2-D work, maximum size is 8’ x 8’ including frame. Sculpture is limited to 275 lbs., with maximum dimensions of 7’ x 5’ and must fit through a standard double entry door.

METHOD OF SELECTION

Watercolor U.S.A. 2015 will be selected from digital image files. Digital images should accurately represent the artworks entered. It is the intention of the Museum that all acceptances will be considered final. However, the Museum reserves the right to delete from the exhibition any artwork that does not conform to the entry specifications. Selection of artwork for awards will be made from the actual accepted paintings. Please do not send any detail views or photographic reproductions as they will not be seen by the juror.

AWARDS

Top cash prizes will be awarded in the amounts of $3000, $2000, $1500, and $1000. Approximately $40,000 total in cash and Springfield Art Museum purchase awards and Watercolor USA Honor Society cash awards will be available. Museum purchases will be selected by the Museum Director and the Curator. Cash awards will be made at the Juror’s discretion.
