Prospectus

Gallery 901 is presenting a National Juried Encaustic Small Works Exhibition. Artists working in encaustic/wax are encouraged to apply. This exhibition is open to all encaustic artists. Artist may enter up to 5 images per entry for jury review.  Selection will be based on submitted images, therefore it is possible for an artist to have more than one piece selected for the show. Selection will be based on submitted images. John Schaeffer and Sherry Ikeda, owners of Gallery 901 will act as jurors.

Eligibility:

Open to all artists 18 years or older, working with or incorporating the encaustic/wax medium into their work, two dimensional will be accepted as well as mixed media, as long as encaustic is one of the primary materials. Up to 5 images per entry will be accepted with a maximum size restriction of 6” x 6” unframed on cradle board. Work must have been completed within the last 24 months. All works in the exhibition must be for sale. Artists will receive 50% of the purchase price with 40% going to the gallery and 5% going to the Espanola Animal Shelter and 5% to the Encaustic Art Institute.

Delivery of Art:

Art must be received by 11/14/14.  Hand delivered art will be accepted on 11/14/14 from 10am to 5pm. All work must be properly labeled on the back with: artist name, address, phone number, email and price. Return shipping labels are required. Artists are responsible for paying the return shipping of unsold art. Information for labels are to be sent to Sherry Ikeda at sherryikeda@yahoo.com. Label information required: artist name, state abbreviation, and title.

Promotion:

Gallery 901 will advertise the exhibition on the International Encaustic Artists and Encaustic Art Institute website and blog. Promotion will include art periodicals throughout the region, press releases, a large ad in Santa Fean Now as well as The Magazine, New Mexico’s best and widely distributed art magazine. Cards for the show will also be distributed to the concierge services at hotels in Santa Fe. Artists are encouaraged to advertise their entries on their websites and networks.
