2014 MEMBERS EXHIBITION: CALL FOR ENTRIES

Juror
This year’s juror is Darren McManus. He is a painter and educator living in Lambertville, New Jersey. He received his B.F.A from the University of Hartford / Hartford Art School completing a double major in graphic design and experimental studio and spent his junior year studying at the Glasgow School of Art in Glasgow, Scotland. In 2004, McManus received his M.F.A. in painting from Cranbrook Academy of Art.

For his visionary, often unconventionally shaped acrylic paintings, McManus has been awarded numerous grants and awards including: an Individual Artist Fellowship Grant from the New Jersey State Council on the Arts; an Individual Artist Grant from the Puffin Foundation; a Fellowship from the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts; and a Mid-Atlantic Arts Foundation Creative Fellowship in conjunction with The Millay Colony for the Arts. Additionally, McManus has been selected for numerous residency fellowships including: Salzburg Kunstlerhaus in Salzburg, Austria; Chashama North in Pine Plains, NY; The Vermont Studio Center in Johnson, VT; The Virginia Center for the Creative Arts in Amherst, VA; The Millay Colony for the Arts in Austerlitz, NY; The Artists’ Enclave at I-Park in East Haddam, CT; and The Cooper Union School of Art - Drawing & Painting Residency Program in New York, NY. His paintings have been widely exhibited in galleries and museums across the United States and have twice been selected by the Boston based Open Studios Press for inclusions in their prestigious, juried publication New American Paintings. His current exhibition, Darren McManus: Tangents, is on view at the Hunterdon Art Museum through September 7, 2014.
