Prospectus

The Moroccan American Commission for Educational and Cultural Exchange (MACECE) announces an art call for submissions with the theme “I have a dream…” for a juried selection of works of art to be displayed as part of the new U.S. Embassy’s art collection

Images must be between 1400 and 2000 pixels on the longest side. Refer to the help menu on the Juried Art Services site and review the Application Check List. Artists are invited to submit images with caption information of the work (title, medium, dimensions, year and weight) and concept descriptions. Indoor and outdoor works including but not limited to: sculpture, ceramic or paintings, works on paper, photography or mixed media works will be considered.

Each entrant must submit two images of the work of art on the theme, “I have a dream…” for consideration by the jury. Entrants should include up to three images of other examples of their work.

ANNOUNCEMENT OF SELECTED WORKS
The announcement of the works selected for display in the Embassy will take place in October 2014.

ELIGIBILITY

MACECE welcomes all 2D and 3D artists, who are Moroccan citizens and who are between between the ages of 24 and 35, to submit applications.

ACCEPTANCE TO THE INTERVIEW PHASE
Email notification will be sent no later than September 7th. Artists that are selected for the second phase of the application will be notified and asked to participate in an interview with the jury. After the jury has interviewed all of the candidates, the selected works will be announced.

JURY
The jury will be composed of the President of MACECE, a representative of the U.S. Embassy, a representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Virginia Shore, Chief Curator and Deputy Director (Art in Embassies, U.S. State Dept. and Curator for Rabat New Embassy) and prominent Moroccan artists

AFTER SELECTION

In addition to having their work displayed permanently in the Embassy, the artists whose work is selected will be invited to a recognition ceremony presided over by the U.S. Chief of Mission and a representative from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Artists whose work is selected will also participate in a two-week study tour to the United States where they will meet with U.S. contemporary artists as well as visit galleries, museums and art schools.
