Sonoma Plein Air 2014

Monday September 15 - Saturday September 20.

Plein Air Artists: Please join us this Fall for a week in the beautiful wine country of Sonoma Valley! It all happens at the 12th annual Sonoma Plein Air Festival, September 15-20, 2014.

Paint on location in private estates, wineries and coastal locations. Our area is chock-full of vintage barns, Victorian houses and water towers, eucalyptus groves and meadows dotted with Valley oaks, rolling grassy hills and wooded waterways - Plein Air heaven. Commune with other Plein Air artists from around the country.

We provide complimentary lodging, maps, suggested scenic locations, welcome wine reception, some meals, ticket to the Gala on Friday, and much more.

JURY SELECTION AND ELIGIBILITY

A jury of artists will select the 2014 participating artists.

Selections will be based upon items of plein air work executed since January 2013.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS FOR APPLICANTS

  • All entries must be received by May 5, 2014.
  • Submission of four digital images of current (within the past 12 months) plein air work.
  • Arrange images in the order in which you would like them to be viewed.
  • Images should be between 1400 pixels and 2000 pixels longest dimension at 300PPI (pixels per inch). 1920x1920 pixel images are also acceptable.
  • Depending upon your connection speed, large files can take several minutes to upload. If images exceed 2000 pixels when they are added to our system there will probably be a loss of quality.
  • No digitally manipulated images allowed.
  • Images of your work should be professionally photographed, cropped and color accurate.
  • You may only adjust for brightness, contrast, color correction and remove scratches or debris.
  • Include a name for each piece.

EVENT REQUIREMENTS FOR SELECTED ARTISTS

  • Artists must paint on site for at least 3 of the 5 days of the event.
  • Each artist will select one piece for the Friday, Sept. 19 Gala Dinner & Auction.
  • All work for sale at Friday’s Gala and Saturday’s Art Exhibition must have been created during the week of September 15-19, 2014.
  • Painting locations and subjects are limited to Sonoma County.
  • All artwork for sale must be framed.
  • Artists agree to give 40% of all sales from the Gala Auction and Art Exhibition to the Sonoma Plein Air Foundation.
  • Housing for participating artists is offered for the week of September 15-20, 2014, only.
  • All artists should have access to a car, whether by renting or sharing with another artist.
