Plein Air Painters of Hawaii

2013 Prospectus

Plein Air Painters of Hawaii (PAPOH) is holding a juried competition to select five new Signature Members. PAPOH is an internationally acclaimed painting organization based in Hawaii. The competition is open to all plein air painters regardless of whether or not they are Hawaii residents. PAPOH Signature Members have been published in numerous articles including a 9 page article in International Artist Magazine, August 2005.

Plein Air Painters of Hawaii sponsors paint outs, exhibitions and workshops in Hawaii. PAPOH President Jan Bushart founded PAPOH to “foster and promote the advancement of plein air painting in Hawaii”.PAPOH has over 125 members from Hawaii, the mainland and outside of the U.S.

SUBMISSION DEADLINE: April 28, 2013

JURY DATE: April 30, 2013

NOTIFICATION DATE: May 8, 2013

ENTRY FEE: $40.00

SUBMISSION INFORMATION & PARTICIPATION RULES:

  • Each applicant must submit seven (7) jpeg images of their works for Signature Member consideration. At least five (5) jpegs are required to be of plein air paintings and two (2) jpegs can be either studio works or plein air works. Include title, dimensions, medium and whether it is plein air or studio
  • Artist biography must be submitted
  • Entry questions should be sent to papohadmin@gmail.com
  • PAPOH membership fees are due upon acceptance as a Signature Member

ELIGIBILITY & IMAGE REQUIREMENTS :

  • Paintings must be the artist’s original work and may not be produced in any instructional class or workshop or copied from another painting
  • Only two-dimensional original painting media submissions may be juried. No mechanical reproductions, photography, crafts, or computer-generated art
  • Submissions must be painted within the past two years
  • There is no maximum size or minimum size requirement nor is there a “subject theme” requirement for your paintings.
  • All “painting” mediums are acceptable
  • Painters do not need to be Hawaii residents

DISTINGUISHED JURORS

All digital images from each artist will be juried by a panel of jurors who are members of Plein Air Painters of America.

*Artists participating in the Signature Member Jury agree to allow PAPOH to use their artwork on www.papoh.com and in press releases relating to PAPOH.
