PRINT SPECIFICATIONS

Only works that measure no larger than 18 inches in any dimension (including mat and/or support) will be accepted for exhibition. Works will be exhibited under glass and without frames. Original prints produced by traditional printmaking techniques completed within the past two years are eligible, for example intaglio prints, lino prints, screen prints, etc. Our juror will consider digital prints created as works of art rather than as reproductions or documentation of artworks produced in other media. No photographic prints will be accepted.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Artists may submit up to 4 entries, each piece can be no larger than 18” in any dimension.

ENTRY FEES:

$35 entry fee. Artists are responsible for shipping their works to the gallery. All works must be delivered in lightweight containers that will be used to return the works to the artist. UW-Parkside Gallery covers the cost of returning artwork.

SALES AND LIABILITY

Prints may be “for sale” or NFS. For prints that sell—the UW-Parkside Gallery deducts a twenty percent donation that is used to support gallery educational programs or scholarships. Upon acceptance, UW-Parkside retains the right to reproduce jpegs, regardless of copyright, for promotional or education purposes only. Artworks are insured while they are on university property (with a $500 deductible). Artists must fill out insurance forms and deliver them digitally or via US post by February 22, 2013 to have their artworks covered by campus insurance. UW-Parkside is not responsible for damages that occur during shipping. Parkside is not responsible for artworks sent to the gallery without the proper insurance form completed. Artists are responsible for shipping costs to the gallery; UW-Parkside will pay shipping costs to return works within the US only. Upon receipt of accepted works, UW-Parkside Gallery retains the right to refuse any works for misrepresentation or improper packaging.

Selection and awards

Entries are reviewed anonymously by our juror, John Hitchcock, Professor, Art Department, University of Wisconsin-Madison and director of Hybrid Press. Works are chosen on the basis of quality and individual artist’s mastery of the medium and the expressive qualities of the artwork without preference toward any particular style or technique. Artists are notified of acceptance, and upon selection, are given shipping instructions and an insurance form. Awards are selected by the juror and are announced at the opening reception. $1,000 Grand Prize award, two $250 Awards of Merit. A color catalogue is produced for the

Parkside National Small Print Exhibition.
