Prospectus

Hosted by: Southwest Gallery, Dallas, Texas.

For over three decades, Southwest Gallery has serviced the art needs of Dallas. Offering some of the finest art and most experienced consultants in the area, we provide professional quality in all our services dealing with the arts. Our 16,000 square foot gallery features fine 19th and 20th Century paintings and sculpture. Don't let our name deceive you; we are not just Southwest art! We carry a large stock of Contemporary, Western, Impressionist, Traditional and yes, Southwest art. Also housed in our walls are fabulous sculpture, bronze and antiques, as well as a huge custom framing department. The Gallery will host an Awards Brunch for artists only at 9am, and Artists Reception for the public from 1-5pm on Saturday, October 9, 2010.

INTENT

It is our intention to choose the very best art in terms of composition, technique and overall excellence regardless of style or medium.  Selected work will include a very broad range from contemporary abstraction to impressionism to extremely tight realism.  There is not a quota on specific mediums such as oil, watercolor, pastel or sculptural materials.  Our only goal is excellence, no matter how it is expressed.  Whimsical work may be included as well as extremely serious statement.  Each work is judged solely on its own merit without regard to the artist’s name.  We feel that the final show will be elegant, very well rounded and include a wide range of artistic expression.

AWARDS

The total awards will be approximately $10,000 in cash and prizes, with a $1,000 Best of Show award.  Award packages are designed to encourage and inspire women in the arts.

The Marilyn Newmark and Leonard J. Meiselman Foundation is sponsoring the Leonard J. Meiselman Award ($350.00) for the best sculpture done in a realistic and academic manner. Marilyn Newmark will be attending the show and taking part in the selection of the recipient.
