ArtQuilt Elements continues to be a biennial juried exhibition, celebrating its ninth exhibition. In April and May 2010, AQE will continue to reside at the Wayne Art Center.

Mission Statement

The mission of AQE is to create an international venue for art quilts that will promote the contemporary quilt as an art form. In this exhibition we present contemporary quilts that reflect or embrace original, unique and innovative methods incorporating impressive craftsmanship and technical prowess.

The Wayne Art Center

For over 75 years the Wayne Art Center has been enriching the cultural needs of the community through the arts. Today, WAC’s mission has three parts: offering instruction in the visual and performing arts for artists of all ages and ability levels; presenting exhibitions of the work of professional artists as well as students and faculty; and reaching out to bring art to underserved audiences, including those with special needs. An exciting $5 million renovation and expansion project is nearing completion. The new 27,000 square foot Wayne Art Center – with state-of-the-art painting, ceramic and sculpture studios, a second exhibition gallery, gallery shop and music studios – celebrated its Grand Opening in October 2007.

Requirements:

  • Work submitted must be innovative and original in design. Work derivative of other quilt artists or work created in a workshop with the aid of an instructor is not acceptable.
  • Work must be a personal expression of the artist’s intent.
  • Quilts submitted must have been completed after January 1, 2007.
  • If the quilt will be framed, this information and the finished size must be listed on the application.
  • There is no size restriction for 2010.
  • Artist statement, bio and high resolution digital image will be required after notification of acceptance into AQE 2010.

We reserve the right to omit from the exhibition accepted quilts that differ dramatically from what is represented on the digital image.
