OIL PAINTERS of AMERICA®
Dedicated to the Preservation of Representational Art

Presents

The 2019 Eastern Regional Juried Exhibition
Of Traditional Oils

OPA’s 2019 Eastern Regional Exhibition is being hosted by Beverly McNeil Gallery, located in Birmingham, Alabama, October 10 through November 11, 2019. The Opening Reception will be held on Thursday, October 10, from 5:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with the awards presentation at 7:00 p.m.

Nicknamed “The Magic City” due to its rapid growth, starting in the early 20th century, Birmingham is one of two primary hubs of railroading in the “Deep South” and is a leading banking center in the United States. Overlooking the city, from the top of Red Mountain, is the symbol of Birmingham, the Vulcan Statue, a cast-iron representation of the Roman god of fire, iron and blacksmiths which is a tribute to the city’s steel production dating back to the 1890’s.  Sites to be visited are the Birmingham Museum of Art, (the largest art museum in the Southeast), the Alabama Jazz Hall of Fame, the Southern Museum of Flight and the Barber Vintage Motorsports Museum (with the largest collection of motorcycles in the world).

  • Our goal is to assemble the finest display of representational oil paintings.
The focus in the jurying process will be to select paintings that show the highest quality in draftsmanship, color, and composition, emphasizing a diversity in representational style and subject matter.

  • The total awards will be approximately $11,500, including a $4,000 Best In Show.

  • The awarding juror will be an OPA Signature or Master Signature member.

Members that are citizens, both natural born or otherwise, of the United States, Canada, or Mexico are eligible to participate regardless of where they live. For sake of convenience, citizens who reside elsewhere will compete in the region that corresponds with their last place of residence within North America.
