Prospectus

Orsoni Smalti Veneziani has been creating Venetian smalti and gold mosaic since 1888. We have created the Orsoni Prize to honor the creation of contemporary mosaic fine art. Maestro Lucio Orsoni, great grandson of Orsoni founder and current Honorary President of Angelo Orsoni and Pino Bisazza, the founder and President of Trend Group and premier art collector, will judge the competition.

Maestro Orsoni and Dottore Bisazza will award the Grand Prize to the individual who best exemplifies the use of Orsoni product in a mosaic representing excellent technique and unique artistic vision. Four additional artists will also be recognized for their work with one Honorable Mention and three Finalists.

Artists may submit 2-dimensional and 3-dimensional works.
You will create one application and select 2D or 3D art type for each image.

The application deadline is June 12, 2009.
The winner will be announced, September 9, 2009.

The Grand Prize
Euro 1,000
Transportation to Venice, Italy to attend the Orsoni Master in Mosaic, a one week class between October 2009-October 2010.

Application
Applications must be completed to enter the competition for 2009.
Applications will be accepted until -June 12, 2009.

There will be no deadline extension.

Applicants may submit up to 4 pieces of mosaic art per application. A maximum of two mosaics  for each for each art type, 2-D and 3-D. Each mosaic may have a maximum of two images, including full view and detail.

Submission Guidelines:
A free registration is required to submit an entry. Registration through JAS will allow the applicant to receive notification of all JAS exhibition opportunities. The JAS “Help” section offers extensive guidelines and suggestions for applicant participation and submission. Incomplete applications or artwork that does not meet the submission requirements will be ineligible for consideration. Mosaic submission grants permission to Angelo Orsoni and Trend to use the award winning images in their marketing materials (brochures, web site, etc.) for promotional and educational purposes. The artist will retain copyright to their image. All entries will be posted on the Orsoni website after the winners are announced.

Entry Requirements:
All artists may enter a maximum of four works of original mosaic art: two for each  art type of 2-D and 3-D. Each work of art may have 2 images, one full and one detail for a maximum of 8 images for each application.

The application fee of $45 is payable by credit card.

Please complete 1 application for up to 4 works of mosaic art , including all dimensions and weight.

Size and weight maximums: 2-Dimensional: 122 centimeters, 4 ft. (max length or width), 100 kilos/220 pounds

3-Dimensional: 76 x 76 x 152 centimeters, 2.5’ x 2.5’ x 5’ (max. length, depth or width),100 kilos/220 pounds

Mosaic must have been created in 2007, 2008 or 2009.

Mosaic material: 75 % (minimum) Orsoni product

 

Image Guidelines:
All images must conform to the following standards:
Jpg format Between 1400 and 2000 pixels at the largest dimension
300 DPI
One full and one detail image may be submitted for each work of mosaic art.

Exhibition
The award winning mosaic will be on exhibit at the Angelo Orsoni gallery in Venice, Italy for 3 months, starting the week the artist chooses to participate in the Master in Mosaic class.

Angelo Orsoni will ship the mosaic from the artist’s studio to Venice and back to the artist after 3 months (in the event that the mosaic is not sold).

The Grand Prize winning artist will have one year (October 2009-October 2010) in which to attend a week long Master in Mosaic class taught at Angelo Orsoni in Venice, Italy.

While the award winning mosaic is being exhibited at the Orsoni Gallery in Venice, Italy it may be available for sale if the artist wishes.

Please indicate the sale price on the application form (including a 20% commission paid to Orsoni in the event the mosaic is sold). If the mosaic is not for sale, please indicate a fair-market value for insurance purposes.
