Description of Exhibition:

Jewelry, sculpture, conceptual pieces, and works that explore every aspect of Transformation are welcome.  This is a non-juried exhibition.

Since the exhibition is in October, Halloween or Harvest themes may serve as a prompt, but aren’t necessary.

Maximum artwork size is 15" x 15." However, space may be available for larger work.  Please notify  metalexhibition2018@gmail.com  if you submit larger artwork.

Nothing, we’re told, stays the same. Life is, in its essence, impermanent; everything transforms.  All members are invited to push boundaries, integration, and diversity;  to explore the ideas, process, and experience in the finished work.

In October we celebrate transformation.

For Halloween, children become goblins or superheroes; the spiritual becomes material through costume and magic. We attempt the mastery of death, the ultimate transformation, with icons of skeletons and gravestones.

We also celebrate the Harvest of the fruits of transformation.  What started as ground, air, water and seed has been transformed into what sustains all our lives.

Art celebrates transformation:  An idea becomes an object, emerging through an alchemical transformation of raw material, idea, skill, and gathered ancient wisdom.  Metal in one form has been transformed by energy into another.  If we’re lucky, we, the artist; we the viewer; and we, the wearer, are all transformed. Even the objects themselves will continue transforming as they age, and as they’re used.

This Exhibition is nothing less than the celebration of life -- the continuing transformation of one thing to another.
