Our goal:  “To promote the appreciation of American Impressionism through exhibitions, workshops and other media.”

Membership is open to American Impressionist artists who are legal US residents, US citizens living abroad or anyone who wishes to support American Impressionism. ELIGIBILITY/REQUIREMENTS:  There can be no exceptions to deadlines, specifications or rules.

MEMBERSHIP:  Must be a current (or new) paid member of AIS and must be a legal US resident to be eligible to enter the exhibition. 2018 membership dues of $60 must be paid prior to entering. To join online or to request a mail in membership form, visit www.americanimpressionistsociety.org.

MEDIUM:  Oil, Pastel, Acrylic, Watercolor or Gouache. No mixed media, photography, digital or any other media. Painting on any substrate which has been preprinted with an image, drawing etc is strictly forbidden. All paintings must be original (completely conceived and executed by the artist), impressionistic in style, must have been completed within the last three years and may not have been exhibited in a previous AIS show. Work must not violate copyright laws. Work done in any class and/or under the guidance of an instructor is not eligible for entry whether or not the instructor made marks on or assisted with the work. Any work violating these rules will be disqualified and any award will be forfeited.

SIZE & QTY:   Paintings must be no larger than 900 square inches INCLUDING FRAME with maximum length on any side of 31 inches INCLUDING FRAME (note this is a change from previous years). To determine square inches, multiply length x width (example: 30x30=900). Examples WITH frame: a 30" wide painting may have a 1/2" wide floater frame (30"+1/2"+1/2"=31"), a 24" wide piece may have a 3-1/2" frame (24"+3.5"+3.5"=31"). Two paintings may be submitted. Maximum of one painting per artist may be accepted into show.

FRAMING:  Work must be suitably framed in a fine art gallery-quality wood frame, wired and ready for hanging. No metal frames, gallery wrap canvases or sawtooth hangers. Floater frames are acceptable. Unsuitable or damaged framing will disqualify. Repair or replacement of frame is financial responsibility of artist. AIS and Gallery are not responsible for damage caused by works framed with glass. Plexiglass is recommended.

LIABILITY & AGREEMENT:  All entries will be made at the risk of the entrant. Care and caution will be exercised in the handling of all art work. Neither AIS nor Gallery may be held responsible for loss or damage. Artists are responsible for insuring their work during transit. Gallery will provide Insurance on all works in the show while they are on the gallery premises; that covers all contingencies at wholesale value of the artwork. Digital images are assumed to be accurate representations of the entrant’s original artworks.  Artwork that differs markedly from the submitted image will be disqualified. The artist retains copyright to his/her image(s), however, by submitting to this show, artist agrees to AIS's use of the images for publicity (including future AIS event promotion) and archival purposes. Submission of entries and entry fee, which is non-refundable, constitute agreement with all conditions set forth in this prospectus.

SALES COMMISSION:  Artist 55%, Gallery 45%. All work MUST be for sale and must be priced according to your standard pricing. No price changes will be accepted once you have submitted your entry. No NFS or POR. An artist who withdraws an entry after acceptance into the exhibition shall not be eligible to enter any AIS exhibition for the two succeeding years. Any accepted work which is presold MUST be included in the show. The sale must be handled through the gallery. Gallery commission applies.

ENTRY FEE:  $48 for one painting or $58 for two paintings, to be paid with credit card on Juried Art Services site. Entry fees are nonrefundable whether your paintings are juried into the exhibition or not.

ONLINE ENTRY:  All entries must be submitted online at www.juriedartservices.com. Please do not email your images to AIS.

ADVERTISING:    Our Publication Sponsors, Southwest Art, American Art Collector, Fine Art Connoisseur/Plein Air Magazine will offer all AIS members special group advertising rates for October issues. Participation is encouraged and recommended.

2018 AIS SHOW CALENDAR

Please mark these dates on your calendar. No exceptions can be made. Exhibition begins September 27 and ends October 28, 2018.

April 16th - June 4th: Digital entries accepted at www. juriedartservices.com

June 4th: Digital Entry Deadline at JuriedArtServices.com, midnight Pacific time (PST). Due to the extremely high number of last minute entries each year, we highly recommend entering well before the final deadline to avoid possible last minute issues that can and do arise, especially if you are not familiar with using the digital entry system. If you do not have a Juried Art Services account (it’s free) please set one up well before the deadline and check the image requirements and entry instructions.

July 9th: Jury results will be emailed to entrants and made available on the AIS website

Sept. 17th – Sept. 21st: Artists ship accepted work to Peninsula School of Art. Artists must include a prepaid FEDEX return shipping label (if you don’t have a FedEx account, provide the gallery a credit card number for return of work. Gallery will use Pack and Ship in Sturgeon Bay, WI to return work. Pack and Ship will bill artist’s credit card for return shipping). Also include a check for $20 payable to the gallery to cover costs of unpacking, storage, repacking and contacting shippers for return of unsold work. Fee will be waived for artists using Airfloat or Masterpak shipping boxes.

Sept. 21: Last day for accepted works to arrive at gallery

Sept. 27: AIS Opening Reception & Awards Presentation, 5 to 8pm at the gallery

Sept. 28:  Dawn Whitelaw, AISM, demo at 6 to 8pm at the gallery. Education programs during the day.

Sept. 29: All Member Paintout 8am to 2pm– location TBA. Wet Room Exhibition and Sale 4 to 6pm.

Oct. 28:    Last day of exhibition

By Nov. 13: Unsold work shipped back to artists. Hand delivered works must be picked up no later than November 2nd or make arrangements with the gallery if that is not possible.
