Prospectus

We invite you to enter this ground breaking exhibition where SIZE MATTERS.  Do you create large pieces?  As in 6’x 6’?   Or small? As in 6“x 6”?  All media considered, but these are the only two sizes admitted to this show (if framed, the total size, including frame, cannot exceed 6’ x 6’ or 6” x 6”).  If this is not your typical scale, are you willing to stretch your muscles?  Work does not have to be framed, but must be prepared and ready to install for exhibition.  If using gallery wrapped canvas the edges must be painted.

The opening reception and award ceremony is November 17th from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m.  Artists are encouraged to attend, meet the organizers and sponsors and discuss their work with interested visitors. The exhibition runs from November 17 through December 15, 2016.

We plan an active Public Relations campaign involving direct mail, social media and print media.  We will provide exhibiting artists with material that can be mailed or emailed to your contacts to encourage their attendance.

Cash prizes will be awarded.

OFFICIAL RULES

Each entry consists of an entry fee and up to four images submitted via Juried Art Services

Lighthouse ArtCenter members: $35.00 and non-members:$40

By submitting an entry, each entrant agrees to the Official Rules and warrants that his or her entry complies with all requirements set out in the Official Rules.  This is a skill-based event and chance plays no part in the determination of winners.

Artwork and photographs may have been created any time previously, but must not have been exhibited at the Lighthouse ArtCenter prior to acceptance.

For photographic entries, image manipulation IS acceptable.

Each piece of art (the “Artwork”) in its entirety must be a single work of original material created by the Artist or an acknowledged collaborator.  By applying to the exhibition, the Artist represents, acknowledges and warrants that the submitted artwork is an original work created solely by the entrant, that it does not infringe on the copyrights, trademarks, moral rights, rights of privacy/publicity or intellectual property rights of any person or entity and that no other party has any right, title, claim, or interest in the Artwork.

The Artwork must not, in the sole and unfettered discretion of the Lighthouse ArtCenter, contain obscene, provocative, defamatory, sexually explicit, or otherwise objectionable or inappropriate content.

The description must be brief and accurate, with a title, and, if a photograph, should include sufficient information to convey the circumstances in which it was created.  Disguising or misrepresenting the origin of your content is cause for disqualification.

Watermarks are not acceptable.  If the Lighthouse ArtCenter does not receive a non-watermarked version of the entry within ten (10) calendar days following its request, the entry will be disqualified.

If artwork is disqualified after entry for non-compliance with the rules, the entry fee is not refunded.

The entries will be judged in accordance with the criteria defined below.  All entries must be submitted and received by September 15, 2016 at 11:59 p.m.  EDT.  Proof of submission is not proof of receipt.  The Lighthouse ArtCenter reserves the right to examine the original photograph/source material in order to confirm compliance with these rules.

Artwork exhibited maybe offered for sale, if the artist wishes, and it is up to the artist to determine the price at which it will be offered.  All sales are subject to sales tax and a 40% commission which will be withheld by the ArtCenter when payment is made within 30 days following the close of the exhibition.  Art that remains unsold at the end of the exhibition may be:

a.          Picked up by the artist on December 17 from 9 am – 5 p.m.

b.         Returned to the artist via prepaid shipping provider at the artist’s expense.

c.           Donated to the ArtCenter for D’Art for Art, the Lighthouse ArtCenter’s largest annual fundraiser.

Artwork remaining unclaimed will be charged a storage fee of $10 per day per piece.  Any artwork remaining unclaimed after December 31, 2016, will be treated as a donation to the Lighthouse ArtCenter and may be sold or disposed of.

Artwork is shipped solely at the artist’s risk; return labels must be included with packing.  The organizers cannot accept any responsibility for items damaged in shipping and handling.  We strongly recommend careful packing with particular attention to corners and any glass.  Please consider taking out insurance and tracking the shipping of Artwork.

While we take great care with the artwork, all work is exhibited at the artist’s risk, we cannot be responsible for loss or damage during the exhibition or during shipping and handling.

There will be an opportunity to hand-deliver artwork for the exhibition.  Details of where to send artwork selected for exhibition will be sent to successful entrants as soon as possible in September.  Emails of accepted and declined submissions will be sent through Juried Art Services, so please check this regularly.

By entering, entrants also agree (a) to be bound by these Official Rules; (b) that the decisions of the judges are final and binding with respect to all matters relating to the exhibition; and (b) if the entrant wins, the ArtCenter may use the winner’s name, photograph, likeness, and/or voice in any publicity or advertising relating to the exhibition or future exhibitions without compensation or approval.

By submitting this application you agree to the terms of these official rules.
