PROSPECTUS

AWARDS JUDGE

Rick Parker

Rick Parker, owner of Parker Conservation, Inc. of Gentry, AR, is a sixth generation Arkansan and has been in both fine and decorative art conservation for forty years. Mr. Parker did his undergraduate study at John Brown University and did his graduate work at the Smithsonian Institution's Furniture Conservation Training Program in Suitland, Maryland becoming a staff member in that program . Mr. Parker has lectured at numerous institutions such as the Smithsonian, M.I.T., Society for the Preservation of New England Antiquities, Colonial Williamsburg, and the Canadian Conservation Institute. Parker has worked on objects from the White House, Mount Vernon, Monticello, The Hermitage, Biltmore, Beauvoir, U.S.S. Constitution (Old Ironsides), NASA, The Cherokee Nation, William J. Clinton Presidential Library, and the Harry S. Truman Presidential Library, as well as individual presidential collections . Parker, a published author, has also lectured and taught at numerous colleges and universities and regularly lectures at state and regional historical associations. Parker Conservation, Inc. is one of only a handful of fine arts laboratories in the country that has and uses in-house ultra-violet light and digital microscopes in conjunction with their treatment processes. The process is modeled after the microscopic treatments used at the Sistine Chapel in Italy. Rick Parker is a peer reviewed Professional Associate of the American Institute for Conservation and was the first conservator in private practice to be named as national president of the Wooden Artifacts Group of the A.I.C. Parker was chosen as one of twelve advanced professional members of the A.I.C. to participate in a survey of United Nations World Heritage sites in Cuba in January and February of 2014. Previously, Parker was a conservator for the 10,000 Springs Exhibit, a joint venture between the Chinese Government and the Smithsonian Institution. Parker was also a select conservator for the Studley Tool Chest Exhibit, a privately owned venture, also with the Smithsonian. In 2011, Parker Conservation completed the 25 year hand replication of the 3,000+ year old Gordian Table from ancient Phrygia (Turkey) using wood 40,000 to 60,000 years old for the project .

JURORS

Greg Brockman

Greg Brockman, after many years as an avid art collector, had an opportunity to purchase The Art Emporium and Custom Framing. Over the past nine years, Greg and his family have transformed The Art Emporium from being primarily a frame shop to being recognized in the fine arts world as a dealer and representative of highly respected local and nationally recognized artists. Greg and his family are known as patrons of the arts. If he is not in the gallery working with artists and clients, he is locating rare pieces of art. Greg will tell you that he has no artistic talent, but, he has the eye and heart of a true afficianado of the arts.

Matt Miller

Matt Miller, a native of Arkansas, received his B.S.B.A. (with an emphasis in finance) from the University of Arkansas in 2007. Matt has been a working artist for the past 10 years. His works are featured in private and corporate collections in the United States, and internationally. He is currently focused on running his studio gallery, murals, and abstract conceptual works.

David Kersey

David Kersey, an Arkansas native and graduate of the Savannah College of Art and Design, is an educator, entrepreneur, and artist. His focus for the past 15 years has been digital art and animation. David recently moved from Los Angeles, California where he worked at Sony Pictures and the Walt Disney Company on films such as The Polar Express,

The Chronicles of Narnia, Tangled and the highest grossing animated film of all time, Frozen.

During David's time at Disney Feature Animation he worked on two Oscar winning teams, Frozen and the animated short film Feast. He seeks to develop a world-class digital art school in Fayetteville and bring professional digital art education to northwest Arkansas.
